Cool. They’re starting the second phase of the Southern Links Trailway. Work begins Monday, July 6, with an estimated completion in June 2010.
According to MDOT:
Crews are now working to convert the former Penn Central Railroad into a non-motorized path. This year, work is on a 5.4-mile section of the path, from the village of Otter Lake north to the village of Millington.
The first phase of construction, which extended the path from Columbiaville north to Otter Lake, began in 2007 and was completed in 2008. The completed path will measure 10.2 miles in length and will connect the villages of Columbiaville, Otter Lake, and Millington.
Also totally cool, local jobs:
LJ Construction, Inc., Clifford, is the contractor for this $1.1 million project, which will provide area residents and visitors with improved recreational facilities.
Yes!

What a great thing this is for our community. Only wish we could get those closer to approve one closer to Lapeer City. Those who are “afraid” of the rifraff I’m not sure know who likes bike trails. *rolleyes* Let’s get Michigan in shape.
