just no excuses
if you didn’t do something cool this weekend. I had a full agenda, but did manage to get over to Lapeer Celebrates the Arts on Sunday. The homegrown arts festival is beginning to blossom. They made the “clock” intersection the hub of the event, with booths in four
directions.
There was live music – Copper Creek, I believe – when I arrived – always a good thing. The Segway lent a fun, cosmopolitan air to things.

Especially liked Bill Palmer’s corner of the festival, where he was working his blacksmith magic. Some very cool works there, but really neat to see him and his assistant at work – hammering away on red hot items from their on-site furnace.

The Odyssey Glass display was a color feast with artist Tom Michael’s imagination in glass splayed across the shelves. (That’s his work at the top of the post, too.)

Delightful to see Sharon Beach at work, generously showing a visitor how to do rug hooking. And I know where I’m going for my personalized garden markers – Barbara’s Botanicals – just way cool.
And you gotta like this: recycled glass! Designs in Glass from Holland, Michigan
Lots of other wonderful stuff from pottery to photography to painting to jewelry and more.
